Consumer Reviews
We bought this monitor when we brought our preemie daughter dwelling from the hospital so we could visual see her oxygen and heart rate monitor. The video is highly clear, and operates wonderfully at night. The sound is exceptionally clear. We have applied the Graco digital with our initially son and went thru three of them from the sound going out and battery dying. Pretty impressed at how nicely the unit transmits, in particular due to the fact we live in an apartment. No interference at all. THe only problem we have had is that after four nights the LED light on the reciever died and you could not see the image hardly at all. Summer replaced it and we've had no difficulties additional. I would extremely advocate this product.
We bought the Summer Infant "Night and Day" handheld monitor when our child was born (I'll get around to how this relates to the "Secure Sight" method you're expecting to read about). Around the 8 month mark the sound began to "go" ... we'd see the 'red' but wouldn't hear something. Since the monitor was less than 1 year old I contacted Summer Infant customer support, and was told that if I could prove my handheld was bought much less than 1 year ago they would replace it with the "Secure Sight" handheld monitor. (for some reason they wouldn't send a new "Night and Day", and FYI: save your receipt!). Ahead of agreeing to the trade I checked it out and saw that the Secure Sight unit itself was/is a lot more streamlined than the "Night and Day" model, but noticed the cost was a bit less. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I agreed to the swap. We set it up and I couldn't be additional disappointed. The picture isn't nearly as sharp as the "Night and Day", it really is a step above poor and I can barely distinguish my infant from the crib mattress. With the Night and Day I could essentially see his breathing if I wanted to - with the Secure Sight it's far more like looking at a fuzzy shape of what's most likely my infant.
Second, the power cord is highly short compared to the "Night and Day" and we have to use an extension cord to make it to the outlet (we didn't require an extension cord with the "Night and Day"). Recommendation: pay the additional $30 for the "Night and Day" if you are contemplating either of these, or even far better... save yourself the trouble altogether by avoiding them each. I've in no way written a product assessment prior to this one particular, but sincerely hope it aids a few folks with their choice.
